If you're not laughing, you're crying.

If you’re not laughing, you're crying. Shaun’s family mantra rings true for so many in their position. A second round of chemo after his cancer diagnosis knocked the wind out of the Ditty’s. But you can’t control what happens, only how you respond right? Instead of waiting for Shaun’s head of hair to fall out, he knew he wanted to shave it with his family. That's how he responds to unimaginable news, seizing this moment to share the love with his family.

I was honored when Shaun, someone I’ve known since high school, asked me to capture the love between his family. There were tears, but in between and many more, were laughs. His dad is seriously hilarious. I can't make these expressions or the back of the head soul patch up.

His wife, Kimberly, and his parents took turns taking the clippers to Shaun's locks. They each took a moment with him and let him know he's not going through this alone, because cancer doesn't just affect the patient.

Shaun's not the type to ask for help. His brother has made a gofundme if this story has struck a chord with you, and you'd like to learn more. Any bit helps.
